Antique Apache Tray - B1181

This is an Antique Apache Tray. Apache Baskets are now the most valuable basket here among the Southwest (not including California tribes). Apache's were highly nomadic people before the turn of the century, there are hardly any remnants of apache arts left today. The people nevertheless mastered basketry as a form of art that cannot hardly be produced today. This basket has some unusual patterns portrayed on the inside; there are four diamond like shapes extending from the center, as well as several pictorial patterns (people and dogs). This basket is definately an older piece maybe dating as early as 1910. Made in the USA. This one of a kind basket measure 17" inches in diameter and is 4" inches in depth. This basket has a "superb" weave.
