Apache Gahns Boots - C710

The Apache tribe consists of six groups which are Jicarilla, Mescalero, Chiricahua, Lipan, Western, and Kiowa-Gataka. Their clothing was typically made with deer hide (buckskin) that was stretched and rubbed to give them smooth appearance and texture. These boots also have two rows of tin jingles. These particular boots were made for Gahn dancers. The boots have a curved tip to prevent sharp thorns and rocks from stabbing the foot. CA 1920
