This handmade Native American basket is one of a kind. This Pima tray with the negative whirl design is from the 1880's and is a utilitarian tray, not generally made for sale. This basket features negative stepped geometrics woven in willow in a whirl design with a black devil's claw background. There is a 3/4 inch Native scorch mark affecting 2 coils, with 2 or 3 scattered stitches broken in front and two minor areas of stitch loss on back. A trade bead and brass catalogue disc hanger were added sometime after collection. Made in the USA. This basket is 17" diameter and 3" deep.
