HOPI SIFTER BASKET - BA179

View Details
Hopi Sifter Basket by Hopi artist Deanna Ahownewa. This basket is woven in a geometric design. Hopi basketry is both used ceremonially and sold as an art form. Woven today much the same as it might have been centuries ago, the tools used are a knife, an awl, and the hands of the weaver. The native materials are yucca and the colours are derived from vegetal dyes. This basket measures approximately 10 inches in diameter.
