Hopi pottery bowl by Dextra Quotskuyva ca. 1950. Dextra has been active from the 1940's to the present. She was born in 1928 at Polacca, AZ. Dextra is the third generation descendant of Nampeyo, the Tewa potter who revived Sityatki style pottery on First Mesa at Hopi. Great granddaughter of Nampeyo; granddaughter of Annie and Willie Healing; daughter of Rachel and Emerson Namingha; sister of Priscilla Nampeyo, Lillian Gonzales, Ruth Namingha, Eleanor lucas Namingha Nampeyo and Emerson Namingha; wife of Edwin quotskuyva; mother of Hisi (Camile)Nampeyo and Dan Namingha; grandmother of Lowel Chereposy, Erica Quotskuyva and Reid Ami. The size of this pot is 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".
