» NAVAJO LATE CLASSIC BAYETA SERAPE - A1426
NAVAJO LATE CLASSIC BAYETA SERAPE - A1426
View Details
This beautiful example of a late classic Navajo serape is woven of red raveled aniline dyed bayeta and hand spun Churro wool in natural white, indigo dyed blue, and indigo and rabbit brush dyed green. The design is a vibrant pattern of zig-zag lines the points of which almost meet to create a visual design of diamonds within which are patterned coloured bars, and geometrics with spider woman crosses along the center. The blanket was woven vertically, but the design was envisioned to be worn horizontally, with the crosses displayed down the back of the wearer. The blanket measures 52 inches wide by 70 1/2 inches long.
