You the viewer are a privileged guest experiencing the daily life of a local Cameron weaver, Ruby Robbins, and the people close to her. The story follows Ruby and one of her weavings from inception to sale. Along the way you experience the history of her craft and the daily events of her life. You hear from her and others their own insights into their lives and you become a part of those lives, from every day chores to unique and rare events such as a portion of a Navajo religious ceremony, never before filmed, that took the film crew by surprise as it will you! The perspective of this documentary's telling is unique. It is visually beautiful, but perhaps even more evocative are the sounds. Wind blows across the desert, wood crackles in the fire, sheep call to one another across the open expanse. You hear the voices of the Navajo in their own soft, chanting speech. And, of course, the sound of the weaving; rhythmic and soothing. The batten and the comb seem to touch awake some ancient, primal memory of humanity before our world changed and became modern.
