Maria Martinez, probably the most famous Native American Indian potter in the world, rediscovered with her husband the lost process with which her ancestors made the blackware pottery. Santana, who is the daughter-in-law helped Maria by decorating pieces for her prior to 1956. This small, round blackware bowl showing Maria's well known gunmetal finish is 8 inches diameter.
