In the early 1900s two traders, George Bloomfield at Toadlena Trading Post and Ed Davies at Two Gray Hills, played a huge roll in helping their local weavers develop their skills and artistry. Today the ancestors of these weavers creat what is considered by many to be the finest in Navajo Indian rugs, the Two Gray Hills area is notably the home of such weavers as Daisy Tauglachee, Clara Sherman, and James Sherman. Two Gray Hills rugs are best known for their exclusive use of only natural wool colours, the different browns and greys being produced in the carding of the wool. The artistically complicated designs and fine hand spinning of the wool practiced by most weavers of the Two Gray Hills area result in a finished rug of extremely fine quality.
