HISTORIC PUEBLO POTTERY
Pueblo Indian pottery has a rich and fascinating tradition. To fully understand and appreciate contemporary Indian pottery it helps to understand the rich traditions and ancient designs found in the historic pottery of the past. The Cameron Trading Post tries to represent both of these aspects in its selection of fine Pueblo pottery. Important artisans such as the Nampeyo family, the Navasie family, and the Naha family at Hopi; The Lewis, Garcia, and Chino families of Acoma, The Naranjo, Tafoya, and Gutierrez families at Santa Clara Pueblo; and the Martinez, Roybal, and Vigil families of San Ildefonso, all played an integral part in shaping the customs and traditions of the Pueblo Indian potters of today. The Cameron Trading Post attempts to represent the finest Pueblo pottery of these regions in both its historic and contemporary collections.
