By Acoma artists, Barbara and Joseph Cerno. This award-winning husband and wife team are known for their large hand coiled pottery ceramic jars decorated in older traditional Acoma designs. Pots created by hand using the coil method are hand coiled, hand polished, hand slipped, hand painted and hand fired. In the thin-walled Acoma jars of this size (20 inches tall!), it requires enormous skill in selecting just the right clay, mixing that clay correctly, and forming the pot in such a way as to eradicate any air pockets from the clay. Even so, many pots collapse before firing or shatter in the firing process. The traditional design of this jar features three prominent parrot designs below a rainbow with other floral and bird designs throughout. It is noteworthy that the price at which we are able to offer this jar to you is very near wholesale. ONE ONLY! 20 inches tall by 20 inches diameter.
