Navajo Handwoven Chinle Rug
Navajo handwoven Chinle rug by Alice Defoe. Chinle rugs are banded rugs and are usually woven without a border. Originally woven in Chinle, Arizona, the Chinle is said to be a revived pattern in the process of being reintroduced into rug weaving. This particular rug is woven with commercially dyed wool which the weaver has re-carded, re-washed then re-spun to her preference. This Chinle rug has bands of serrated diamond designs and contrasting lines.
