Handwoven Navajo Chief Revival rug by Calvin Toney. Chiefs blankets are more distinguished by its square shape which originally started out as a plain design of stripes. The blankets were traded mostly to either the plains indians or to the pueblo's. This particular rug is embellished with crosses, stepped patterns, lines, and stripes. The weaver used commercially dyed wool. This is a one of a kind item and is 65" x 42 1/2".
