Navajo Handwoven Chinle Rug
Navajo handwoven Chinle rug by Yazzie Henry. Yazzie Henry is 73 years old and resides in Kaibeto, Arizona. Chinle Rugs are banded rugs and are usually woven without a border. Originally woven in Chinle, Arizona, the Chinle is said to be a revived pattern in the process of being reintroduced into rug weaving. This particular rug is woven with commercially dyed wool which the weaver has re-carded, re-washed then re-spun to her preference. This Chinle rug has bands of contrasting colors separated by thin black lines.
